Cultural Recovery Fund

It was the saddest day in the history of our Company when, in March 2020, we took the awful decisions to close our theatre and postpone our summer productions. With no sponsorship or formal arts funding, SSC relies totally on ticket sales for income to allow us to fund the productions, up keep the grade II* listed Hall, maintain the grounds and gardens and help support our youth drama group, TYD. With no income coming in, we decided to launch our fundraising campaign ‘Save Your Theatre’ and the response from our patrons was extraordinary. Their generosity gave the clearest indication of the high regard in which our amateur theatre company is held, and this public awareness helped us gain the Cultural Recovery Fund grant, for which we are enormously grateful to Arts Council England. These two streams of revenue ensured our survival, and we look forward to this year with enthusiasm and excitement
